Groupon Review: O-An Japanese Restaurant

I love Jap food so when I saw this deal for a TEN COURSE meal, I immediately bought it! As usual, I didn’t read the deal properly and thought that each person would be getting 10 courses, however it was 10 courses for 2 pax, which was a blessing in disguise coz I think the 10 courses could’ve fed 3 people!

The deal
Meal for 2 people for $34.80 instead of $70
Meal for 4 people for $69.60 instead of $140
Meal for 6 people for $136.80 instead of $280

Every 2 people get
Edamame
Daily salad
Grilled saba fish
Tori karaage (deep-fried chicken)
Agedashi tofu
Sashimi
Temaki handroll
Tempura
Sukiyaki hot pot or shabu shabu (pork or beef)
Tonkotsu ramen

Edamame

Grilled Saba Fish

I know this looks very dry but it was moist inside and was actually not bad!

Tori Karaage

I didn't eat this but Jace says it was nice, probably as nice as any karaage can get?

Agedashi Tofu

This is one of my favourite Jap dishes, however it's hard to find a place that can cook it really well as most of them just end up soggy and a little slimy. This was no different.

Sashimi

There were actually 4 pieces but I ate 2 before taking the photo. :P The sashimi was fresh enough for my liking, but disclaimer again.. I'm easily contented when it comes to food (and movies, and alot of other things actually).

Temaki Handroll

Tastes exactly how it looks in that photo. Meh.

Tempura

Erm ya, I know this is a REALLY bad photo but I had the prawn tempura and she had the sweet potato and we were both happy. :D

Tonkatsu Ramen

This was one of the most substandard ramen I had ever eaten. Looks yummy and all but the broth was bland and the noodles like instant noodles. The pork was good though.

Sukiyaki Hotpot

As comforting as a hot pot should be. Jace said the beef was good too!

I didn't take a photo of the salad coz it was nothing much to look at. Plus I was very hungry and just wanted to eat. So ya, sorry some of the photos look abit shitty. =x But the salad of the day was pasta salad and it was actually quite nice.

Overall, I'd say that $34.80 for 2 pax is worth the price! Just don't expect super quality food. This is actually a long overdue post (most of my posts are), I went there about 3 months ago but as luck would have it, the Groupon is still ongoing!
